Music Is First! is all about ‘Creating Equity and Access to Music Education for All Young Children and Communities.’

We do this by integrating music into elementary school curriculum has shown to greatly enhance language acquisition (especially second language acquisition), cognitive development, physical coordination, social-emotional well being, as well as act as a vehicle for families to create music together. Music Is First  provides research based in-school music and literacy residencies, professional development to teachers, music curriculum,  and free resources (lesson plans/ instructional videos etc.) to teachers and parents to foster our mission.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING:

Mr. Mark is teaching us rhythm games and has an activity with their name that helps with literacy, teaching syllables, rhythm and meter. It’s really good for them in language development! -

Thank you for all the great ideas and clear instructions in last night’s PD. I was able to introduce some of the weather sounds this afternoon in class! They loved it. Then we tested out our shakers and used the 1, 2, Ready, Go and 1, 2, Ready, Stop. We even managed to begin marching around the room. Woohoo! I might be ready to try out the rhythm sticks next week.
